In March 2021 Christies in New York held the auction First Open, which included the work Untitled #7 (Surfers) by Catherine Opie. The »bidding war« ended at USD 75,000.00 (€ 63,867.84), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Catherine Opie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Surfer for One Drop, which sold at auction in September 2018 for USD 264,000.00 (€ 227,155.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im März 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled #7 (Surfers) von Catherine Opie zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 63.867,84) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Catherine Opie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Surfer for One Drop beobachtet, die im September 2018 für USD 264.000,00 (€ 227.155,39) versteigert wurde.
