Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mystery Park; Mystery Park II by Carlos Almaráz was auctioned at Christies in Los Angeles in December 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,350.00 (€ 2,640.15). Admittedly, works by Carlos Almaráz have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunset Beach, 1983 in October 2018 with an auction result of USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,442.99).
