In April this year Bonhams held the auction Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art, which included the work Don't Look Behind You, 1989 by Carlos Almaráz. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,200.00 (€ 9,239.13), 46% above the upper estimate. Other works by Carlos Almaráz have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,442.99) in October 2018 for the work Sunset Beach, 1983.
