In November 2012 Artcurial held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, 19th Century Sculptures, which included the work Portrait De William Bateman, Ier Vicomte Bateman by Carle van Loo. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 13,514.00 69% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carle van Loo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venus requesting Vulcan to make arms for Aeneas in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 277,500.00 (€ 284,411.19).

Im November 2012 führte Artcurial die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, 19th Century Sculptures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait De William Bateman, Ier Vicomte Bateman von Carle van Loo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 13.514,00 und damit 69% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Carle van Loo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Venus requesting Vulcan to make arms for Aeneas im Januar 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 277.500,00 (€ 284.411,19).
