Upper estimate price exceeded by 25 %.
In June 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century European Art, which included the work Bacchus by Carle van Loo. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,000.00 (€ 10,328.44), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carle van Loo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venus requesting Vulcan to make arms for Aeneas in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 277,500.00 (€ 284,411.19).
