Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Carl Rungius could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2015 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Visions of the West: American Paintings from the William I. Koch Collection auction, the work Prairie Wolf changed hands for USD 106,250.00 (€ 96,643.62) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Admittedly, works by Carl Rungius have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Alaskan Brown Bear-Out of the Shadows in December 2002 with an auction result of USD 581,500.00 (€ 554,601.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Carl Rungius konnte im Mai 2015 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Visions of the West: American Paintings from the William I. Koch Collection wechselte die Arbeit Prairie Wolf für USD 106.250,00 (€ 96.643,62) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Carl Rungius auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Alaskan Brown Bear-Out of the Shadows im Dezember 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 581.500,00 (€ 554.601,81).
