This artwork by Carel Weight achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May last year. In the The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship auction, the work The Eye sold for GBP 23,940.00 (€ 28,163.13) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Carel Weight; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Thames at Hammersmith sold at auction in May 2012 with the realized price of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,887.60).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Carel Weight erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship wurde die Arbeit The Eye für GBP 23.940,00 (€ 28.163,13) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Carel Weight; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Thames at Hammersmith im Mai 2012 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.887,60).
