This artwork by Cao Jun achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Cologne in May this year. In the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction, the work Serene Scenery sold for HKD 2,142,000.00 (€ 256,742.44) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 800,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cao Jun have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work An Unprecedented in October 2019 with an auction result of HKD 10,266,000.00 (€ 1,173,388.61).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Cao Jun erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in Köln einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings wurde die Arbeit Serene Scenery für HKD 2.142.000,00 (€ 256.742,44) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 800.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cao Jun auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit An Unprecedented im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 10.266.000,00 (€ 1.173.388,61).
