Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Landscape After Liu Songnian by Cai Jia for USD 13,750.00 (€ 10,158.85). This price was achieved in the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Cal at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cai Jia achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mountains and Rivers Without End in November 2017 with an auction result of HKD 24,100,000.00 (€ 2,594,730.21).
