Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Man on Train, Snowy Street from Subway by Bruce Davidson was auctioned at Phillips in New York in October this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,556.00 (€ 3,364.88). Admittedly, works by Bruce Davidson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Circus Dwarf, Palisades, NJ in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 18,800.00 (€ 21,185.49).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Man on Train, Snowy Street from Subway von Bruce Davidson im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.556,00 (€ 3.364,88) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bruce Davidson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Circus Dwarf, Palisades, NJ im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.800,00 (€ 21.185,49).
