Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Congolese new Wax by Bodys Isek Kingelez. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,192.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bodys Isek Kingelez - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pacific Art - 1989, which sold at auction in December 2018 for EUR 71,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Congolese new Wax von Bodys Isek Kingelez zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.192,29) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Bodys Isek Kingelez mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pacific Art - 1989 beobachtet, die im Dezember 2018 für EUR 71.500,00 versteigert wurde.
