In May last year Sothebys in London held the auction The Surya Collection: Property from Mrs. Ute Rettberg, which included the work January '78 by Biren De. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,190.00 (€ 9,634.76), 64% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Biren De have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work September '73 in October 2018 with an auction result of GBP 60,000.00 (€ 67,661.49).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Surya Collection: Property from Mrs. Ute Rettberg durch, in der auch die Arbeit January '78 von Biren De zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.190,00 (€ 9.634,76) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Biren De auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit September '73 im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 60.000,00 (€ 67.661,49).
