Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Elvis in Uniform, 1958 by Bill Ray was sold in the The Landscape of a Mind: A Private Collector's Surreal Vision auction at Christies in London in June 2019. The price achieved of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,826.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bill Ray - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Faye Dunaway & Steve McQueen (at the set of 'Thomas Crown Affair'), which sold at auction in December 2016 for EUR 5,456.00.
