Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Selected Images Of Suburbia by Bill Owens was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in June 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 9,375.00 (€ 7,627.53). Admittedly, works by Bill Owens have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Suburbia, 1973 in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 90,000.00 (€ 71,292.78).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Selected Images Of Suburbia von Bill Owens im Juni 2010 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 9.375,00 (€ 7.627,53) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bill Owens auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Suburbia, 1973 im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 90.000,00 (€ 71.292,78).
