Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Bharti Kher could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art auction, the work An Eye, A Tooth changed hands for USD 137,500.00 (€ 122,461.70) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bharti Kher achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Skin Speaks A Language Not Its Own in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,785,000.00 (€ 1,374,345.55).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Bharti Kher konnte im März 2019 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art wechselte die Arbeit An Eye, A Tooth für USD 137.500,00 (€ 122.461,70) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bharti Kher erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Skin Speaks A Language Not Its Own im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.785.000,00 (€ 1.374.345,55).
