This artwork by Benjamin Arlaud achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2020. In the Old Masters including Portrait Miniatures from the Pohl-Ströher Collection auction, the work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Ermesinde De Corneillan, Comtesse De Bégiers, Circa 1705 sold for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,885.38) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Benjamin Arlaud; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of A Gentleman, Traditionally Identifed As Poncette De La Vivarais sold at auction in July 2019 with the realized price of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,215.18).
