Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Baya achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in March 2020. In the 20th Century Art / Middle East auction, the work without title sold for GBP 35,000.00 (€ 39,522.17) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Baya; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot without title sold at auction in November this year with the realized price of GBP 47,880.00 (€ 55,482.51).
