Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Nature Morte Aux Pastèques Et Aux Raisins, 1976 by Baya was worth EUR 28,864.00 to a buyer in May last year. This price was achieved in the auction African Contemporary Art at Artcurial in Paris and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of EUR 7,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Baya; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot without title sold at auction in November this year with the realized price of GBP 47,880.00 (€ 55,482.51).

Die Arbeit Nature Morte Aux Pastèques Et Aux Raisins, 1976 von Baya war einem Käufer im Mai letzten Jahres EUR 28.864,00 wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion African Contemporary Art bei Artcurial in Paris erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 7.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Baya; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit ohne Titel im November diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 47.880,00 (€ 55.482,51).
