In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work Doubtful friends by Basil Nightingale. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 646.25 (€ 999.60), 29% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Basil Nightingale achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Breaking Cover in June 2013 with an auction result of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,425.63).

Im Juni 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Doubtful friends von Basil Nightingale zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 646,25 (€ 999,60) und damit 29% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Basil Nightingale erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Breaking Cover im Juni 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 20.425,63).
