Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work A Seated Woman by Bartolomeo Pinelli was worth GBP 45,000.00 (€ 50,213.09) to a buyer in July 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Bartolomeo Pinelli; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Marcus Furius Camillus liberating Rome from the Gauls (recto); A compositional study of the same subject (verso) sold at auction in July 2011 with the realized price of GBP 55,250.00 (€ 63,407.64).
