Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman In Black Robe, Three-Quarter Length, Seated At A Table, A Wooded Landscape With Two Church Spires In The Background by Bartholomeus van der Helst was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Sothebys in Amsterdam in May 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 41,050.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bartholomeus van der Helst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sophia Coymans (1636-1714), three-quarter-length, holding a twig with an orange, before a landscape in July this year with an auction result of GBP 504,000.00 (€ 588,015.25).

Die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman In Black Robe, Three-Quarter Length, Seated At A Table, A Wooded Landscape With Two Church Spires In The Background von Bartholomeus van der Helst wurde im Mai 2008 in der Auktion Old Master Paintings bei Sothebys in Amsterdam versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 41.050,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bartholomeus van der Helst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Sophia Coymans (1636-1714), three-quarter-length, holding a twig with an orange, before a landscape im Juli diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 504.000,00 (€ 588.015,25).
