In January 2013 Christies in New York held the auction Renaissance, which included the work The Madonna And Child by Fra Bartolommeo. The price achieved of USD 12,962,500.00 (€ 9,542,476.44) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000,000.00 – 15,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Madonna And Child is the most expensive artwork by Fra Bartolommeo that we have observed at auctions so far.
