This artwork by Fra Bartolommeo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2012. In the Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture auction, the work Saint Jerome In The Wilderness sold for USD 4,898,500.00 (€ 3,752,777.14) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Fra Bartolommeo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Madonna And Child, which sold at auction in January 2013 for USD 12,962,500.00 (€ 9,542,476.44).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Fra Bartolommeo erzielte im Januar 2012 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture wurde die Arbeit Saint Jerome In The Wilderness für USD 4.898.500,00 (€ 3.752.777,14) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Fra Bartolommeo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Madonna And Child beobachtet, die im Januar 2013 für USD 12.962.500,00 (€ 9.542.476,44) versteigert wurde.
