Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Israeli and International Art, which included the work Sleeping Nude And Indian Rug by Avigdor Arikha. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,720.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Avigdor Arikha - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nude On A Sheet, which sold at auction in December 2017 for USD 162,500.00 (€ 135,168.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Israeli and International Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sleeping Nude And Indian Rug von Avigdor Arikha zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.720,21) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Avigdor Arikha mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nude On A Sheet beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für USD 162.500,00 (€ 135.168,86) versteigert wurde.
