Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Saint Emilion by Avigdor Arikha was sold in the Israeli and International Art auction at Sothebys in New York in November 2019. The price achieved of USD 68,750.00 (€ 62,392.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Avigdor Arikha - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Nude On A Sheet, which sold at auction in December 2017 for USD 162,500.00 (€ 135,168.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Saint Emilion von Avigdor Arikha wurde im November 2019 in der Auktion Israeli and International Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 68.750,00 (€ 62.392,23) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Avigdor Arikha mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Nude On A Sheet beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für USD 162.500,00 (€ 135.168,86) versteigert wurde.
