Auction result misses estimated price range
In November last year a collector was able to acquire the work On the Beach by August Gay for USD 2,422.50 (€ 2,346.70). This price was achieved in the auction California Art at Bonhams in Los Angeles and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by August Gay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fishing Boat Aground in August 2019 with an auction result of USD 87,575.00 (€ 79,693.33).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit On the Beach von August Gay für USD 2.422,50 (€ 2.346,70) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion California Art bei Bonhams in Los Angeles erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von August Gay erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fishing Boat Aground im August 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.575,00 (€ 79.693,33).
