Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction California and Western Art40th Anniversary Auction, which included the work Landscape with pond and trees by August Gay. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,825.00 (€ 7,577.06) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by August Gay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fishing Boat Aground in August 2019 with an auction result of USD 87,575.00 (€ 79,693.33).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion California and Western Art40th Anniversary Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscape with pond and trees von August Gay zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.825,00 (€ 7.577,06) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von August Gay erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Fishing Boat Aground im August 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.575,00 (€ 79.693,33).
