The work Boats in a Harbor by August Gay was sold in the California Art auction at Bonhams in April this year. It achieved a price of USD 10,837.50 (€ 9,816.58), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 55%. Admittedly, works by August Gay have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fishing Boat Aground in August 2019 with an auction result of USD 87,575.00 (€ 79,693.33).

Die Arbeit Boats in a Harbor von August Gay wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion California Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 10.837,50 (€ 9.816,58) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 55%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von August Gay auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fishing Boat Aground im August 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.575,00 (€ 79.693,33).
