This artwork by August Gay achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in April this year. In the California Art auction, the work Country Scene sold for USD 31,875.00 (€ 28,872.28) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by August Gay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishing Boat Aground, which sold at auction in August 2019 for USD 87,575.00 (€ 79,693.33).

In der Auktion California Art wurde die Arbeit Country Scene für USD 31.875,00 (€ 28.872,28) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von August Gay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fishing Boat Aground beobachtet, die im August 2019 für USD 87.575,00 (€ 79.693,33) versteigert wurde.
