The work Original illustration for The Vicar of Wakefield (Sunday waistcoats for Dick and Bill) by Arthur Rackham was sold in the The Fantasy World of Arthur Rackham: Rare Original Illustrations from the Collection of Shirley Carter Burden auction at Sothebys in London in December 2021. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 9,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 9,450.00 (€ 11,271.87). Admittedly, works by Arthur Rackham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Andromeda in September last year with an auction result of GBP 88,500.00 (€ 100,721.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Original illustration for The Vicar of Wakefield (Sunday waistcoats for Dick and Bill) von Arthur Rackham wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion The Fantasy World of Arthur Rackham: Rare Original Illustrations from the Collection of Shirley Carter Burden bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 9.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 9.450,00 (€ 11.271,87) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Rackham auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Andromeda im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 88.500,00 (€ 100.721,56).
