Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction The Fantasy World of Arthur Rackham: Rare Original Illustrations from the Collection of Shirley Carter Burden, which included the work Original illustration for The Vicar of Wakefield (A favourite song of Dryden's) by Arthur Rackham. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 12,023.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Arthur Rackham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Andromeda in September last year with an auction result of GBP 88,500.00 (€ 100,721.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Fantasy World of Arthur Rackham: Rare Original Illustrations from the Collection of Shirley Carter Burden durch, in der auch die Arbeit Original illustration for The Vicar of Wakefield (A favourite song of Dryden's) von Arthur Rackham zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 12.023,33) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Rackham auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Andromeda im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 88.500,00 (€ 100.721,56).
