Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Cornstalks at Dusk by Arthur Parton was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,016.00 (€ 1,699.26). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Parton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lake Scene in September 2020 with an auction result of USD 32,760.00 (€ 27,956.99).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Cornstalks at Dusk von Arthur Parton im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 2.016,00 (€ 1.699,26) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Parton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lake Scene im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.760,00 (€ 27.956,99).
