This artwork by Arthur Okamura achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in February this year. In the Coast to Coast | Live OnlineAmerican Art, including The Collection of Gail Feingarten Oppenheimer auction, the work Shells with Wave sold for USD 1,912.50 (€ 1,803.90) - well above the upper estimate of USD 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Arthur Okamura; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot When the Moon is Black sold at auction in February this year with the realized price of USD 3,570.00 (€ 3,367.29).
