Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings, which included the work Portrait of Sir Peregrine Courtenay, standing full-length, in a park, leaning against a tree trunk in a blue coat and white waistcoat, holding a tricorn hat by Arthur Devis. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,849.26) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Arthur Devis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Thomas Bateman Lane (b. 1735), small full-length, in a grey suit with a blue waistcoat, holding a tricorn in his left hand, leaning on a tree stump, in a river landscape with the sea beyond in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 53,775.00 (€ 80,033.31).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Sir Peregrine Courtenay, standing full-length, in a park, leaning against a tree trunk in a blue coat and white waistcoat, holding a tricorn hat von Arthur Devis zur Versteigerung kam.
