In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Town & Country: A Private Collection, which included the work Portrait of a gentleman, full-length, standing on a terrace, wearing a grey suit and blue waistcoat, a river landscape beyond by Arthur Devis. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,710.00 (€ 12,774.78), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Arthur Devis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Thomas Bateman Lane (b. 1735), small full-length, in a grey suit with a blue waistcoat, holding a tricorn in his left hand, leaning on a tree stump, in a river landscape with the sea beyond in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 53,775.00 (€ 80,033.31).

Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Town & Country: A Private Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, full-length, standing on a terrace, wearing a grey suit and blue waistcoat, a river landscape beyond von Arthur Devis zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.710,00 (€ 12.774,78) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Arthur Devis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Thomas Bateman Lane (b. 1735), small full-length, in a grey suit with a blue waistcoat, holding a tricorn in his left hand, leaning on a tree stump, in a river landscape with the sea beyond im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 53.775,00 (€ 80.033,31).
