Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Full Length, Seated Under A Tree by Arthur Devis for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 42,850.29). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Arthur Devis have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2004 by the work Portrait of Thomas Bateman Lane (b. 1735), small full-length, in a grey suit with a blue waistcoat, holding a tricorn in his left hand, leaning on a tree stump, in a river landscape with the sea beyond at GBP 53,775.00 (€ 80,033.31).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli 2013 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Full Length, Seated Under A Tree von Arthur Devis für GBP 37.500,00 (€ 42.850,29) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00.
