Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Artemisia Gentileschi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2021. In the Old Masters Evening Sale auction, the work Venus and Cupid sold for GBP 2,422,500.00 (€ 2,840,883.56) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Artemisia Gentileschi; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Lucrèce sold at auction in November 2019 with the realized price of EUR 4,777,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Artemisia Gentileschi erzielte im Juli 2021 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Venus and Cupid für GBP 2.422.500,00 (€ 2.840.883,56) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Artemisia Gentileschi; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Lucrèce im November 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 4.777.000,00.
