Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Susanna and the Elders by Artemisia Gentileschi was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January last year. The price achieved of USD 2,137,500.00 (€ 1,906,439.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,800,000.00 – 2,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Artemisia Gentileschi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lucrèce, which sold at auction in November 2019 for EUR 4,777,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Susanna and the Elders von Artemisia Gentileschi kam im Januar letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.137.500,00 (€ 1.906.439,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 1.800.000,00 – 2.500.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Artemisia Gentileschi mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Lucrèce beobachtet, die im November 2019 für EUR 4.777.000,00 versteigert wurde.
