Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Female Martyr Saint, Probably Saint Catherine Of by Artemisia Gentileschi was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2019. It changed hands for a price of GBP 187,500.00 (€ 221,603.06) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Artemisia Gentileschi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lucrèce in November 2019 with an auction result of EUR 4,777,000.00.

Die Arbeit A Female Martyr Saint, Probably Saint Catherine Of von Artemisia Gentileschi wurde im Dezember 2019 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 187.500,00 (€ 221.603,06) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Artemisia Gentileschi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lucrèce im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 4.777.000,00.
