Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Nu féminin by Aristide Maillol was auctioned at Artcurial in December this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at EUR 12,464.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aristide Maillol achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Riviere, 1938-1943 in December 2013 with an auction result of EUR 6,033,500.00.
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Nu féminin von Aristide Maillol im Dezember diesen Jahres bei Artcurial versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 12.464,00 mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Aristide Maillol erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Riviere, 1938-1943 im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 6.033.500,00.
