The »bidding war« ended at EUR 2,860.00 43% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anton Melbye achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work “Det franske Skruelinieskib Napoleon paa Rheden af Beikos i Bosperus” in March this year with an auction result of DKK 300,000.00 (€ 40,259.38).

Die Arbeit Vue D'Une Côte Avec Comptoir De Pêche Au Groenland von Anton Melbye wurde im April 2019 in der Auktion The Golden Age of Danish Painting bei Artcurial in Paris versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 2.860,00 und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Anton Melbye erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit “Det franske Skruelinieskib Napoleon paa Rheden af Beikos i Bosperus” im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von DKK 300.000,00 (€ 40.259,38).
