In October 2018 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art, which included the work Bananas by Ang Kiukok. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 475,000.00 (€ 53,485.70), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ang Kiukok have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fishermen in October 2013 with an auction result of HKD 3,760,000.00 (€ 356,804.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Southeast Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bananas von Ang Kiukok zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 475.000,00 (€ 53.485,70) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ang Kiukok auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fishermen im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 3.760.000,00 (€ 356.804,47).
