Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Andrew Geddes could be acquired at Christies in London in October 2005 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Scottish Sale at The Assembly Rooms, Edinburgh auction, the work Portrait of a gentleman, probably Nathaniel Plimer (1757-1822), half-length, in a brown coat and top hat changed hands for GBP 1,920.00 (€ 2,831.42) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Andrew Geddes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Flora Bellasis, three-quarter-length, in Indian Parsi dress in October 2006 with an auction result of GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,686.51).
