Auction result well in line with expectations
In June last year Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary Evening Auction, which included the work Chicago, Board of Trade III by Andreas Gursky. The price achieved of GBP 942,500.00 (€ 1,094,916.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800,000.00 – 1,200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Andreas Gursky - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 99 Cent Ii, Diptych, which sold at auction in February 2007 for GBP 1,700,000.00 (€ 2,520,188.96).
