In November 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work French la Meditation by Anatole Vély. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 26,250.00 (€ 31,368.71), 31% above the upper estimate. With this result, French la Meditation is even the most expensive work of art by Anatole Vély that we have observed at auctions so far.
