Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Amrita Sher-Gil achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Mumbai in November 2018. In the Boundless: India auction, the work without title sold for INR 5,250,000.00 (€ 66,303.10) - well above the upper estimate of INR 2,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Amrita Sher-Gil achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Self-Portrait) in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 2,920,000.00 (€ 2,718,555.07).
