Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Amoako Boafo achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in Hong Kong in November last year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in association with Yongle auction, the work Marie Humbert 2 sold for HKD 1,260,000.00 (€ 156,355.71) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 600,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Amoako Boafo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hands Up in December 2021 with an auction result of HKD 26,650,000.00 (€ 3,018,669.38).
