Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A pair of portraits: Samuel Callender and Sarah Jane Howell by Ammi Phillips was auctioned at Christies in New York in January 2021. The price achieved of USD 16,250.00 (€ 13,391.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ammi Phillips achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of a Young Girl and her Cat in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,248,000.00 (€ 960,147.72).
