The »bidding war« ended at EUR 6,850.00 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Alfred Bastien have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work French Le Maharaja Et Ses Elephants A La Procession Du Festival De Dussehra A Mysore in November 2008 with an auction result of GBP 32,450.00 (€ 39,234.49).

Die Arbeit Apples and roses von Alfred Bastien wurde im Februar 2008 in der Auktion Pictures,Watercolours and Drawings bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 6.850,00 und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alfred Bastien auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit French Le Maharaja Et Ses Elephants A La Procession Du Festival De Dussehra A Mysore im November 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 32.450,00 (€ 39.234,49).
