Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A ruinous tomb in an extensive landscape by Alfred Downing Fripp was sold in the BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS AND ILLUST auction at Christies in London in December 2001. The price achieved of GBP 470.00 (€ 767.91) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Admittedly, works by Alfred Downing Fripp have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pompeii, Italy in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 2,868.00 (€ 4,117.06).
